Chapter 1: The Ice Prince

There once lived a cold-hearted prince who hadn't entirely lost his heart but instead had it frozen solid from childhood days...

This was to protect himself from the agonizing pain he had to once endure...
It was a natural defense mechanism that no one understood...
He just didn't want lose to these endless sinking emotions that he had to wade through, thickly clinging on to every part of his body, dragging him down.

He wanted to be strong... for that, he would even sacrifice his heart!
What he didn't know then, was that freezing his heart didn't actually destroy his heart... but just merely hid his true emotions, giving him an illusion that he was strong...

If only he could've known earlier... that there were many different 'appearance' to the strength he was searching for...

--
Upon a snowy mountain, nine figures were seen climbing up it with a map in hand and a dog for direction because with out it, it was impossible to move forward or back without getting lost.
Sasuke, the team leader for this mission, strode up the mountain with the others following not quite right behind.
His face grimaced and clicked his tongue countless times from the delay they had to go through because of the incredulously weak team mates he had to take care of.
He thought of how much better it was if he was able to take this mission on alone rather than spinning his head around numerously to stop Sakura and Ino arguing like clamorous birds on heat.
To that, Shikamaru didn't attempt to help out since he was too lazy to, and found that blocking their voices out from his mind was the least bothersome while Chouji just continuously ate.
The mute pair, Hinata and Shino, just followed soundlessly behind Sasuke without complaint.

Useless... Everyone's so useless Sasuke muttered inwardly.
But to travel up to the land of ice which was over these mountains, Kiba and his dog, Akamaru, were doing their job, so Akamaru's barking wasn't one to complain about.

Unusually, as for the loud obnoxious blond of the Konoha Village, Naruto, who was way ahead of everyone else was almost mute, only shouting back at the combined team for any warnings needed to be announced.

"It's soooo cold~!!" Ino wailed for the umpteenth time, giving a big shiver whether it was intentional or not, emphasizing her statement,"and we're going too fast! I can't take it! Let's take a break, Sasuke-kun! Please!"

Sasuke turned around and glared at the frozen blue eyes of Ino's, who looked like a pathetic little kitten, trembling head to toe, identically Sakura beside her with a slight hope held in her emerald eyes that evidently showed that she thought the same.

"We're not even half way," Sasuke said exasperated, "if we don't keep moving, we won't reach there before night fall. Spending a night on a snowy mountain is much more critical than this!"

"But-"

"If you think you can't take this, go back to Konoha," Sasuke repeated these familiar words which he seemed to spell out every time these two girls complained, although the pair seem to stubborn to give up and go home.
If Sasuke was truly smart, he would send them back by politely telling them it was better for them to go back, and perhaps promise them something in return when he got back.
Unfortunately, the young Uchiha's pride got in the way to be able to make the right decision, ending up having to drag two stubborn girls pulling his leg, making him choke his own neck by his action.

The snow started to fall heavily in a 45°angle as the looming dark sky found it's way across the sky to right above the team as if warning them to go no further and hinting a dangerous blizzard up ahead, telling them to retreat back to Konoha for today.
Giving up on a mission half way was no option for a pride-too-high Uchiha Sasuke, which was his huge obstacle yet again making him blind to the right decision.

His theory was not as smart as his shinobi skills were because he was constantly clouded with just one strong motivation.

To take revenge.

For that he needed strength, so giving up on a mission half-way wasn't something he could easily do while a true smart shinobi will know their own limits in strength, skills and make a right decision in order to complete the mission successfully.
What the Hokage missed, was the fact that even if Sasuke looked intelligent and exceeded in his shinobi skills, he was yet just another twelve year-old child...

"Akamaru says the weather conditions are gonna get worse. We should find a cave or something and stay put till the blizzard calms down," Kiba translated his dog's words who was whining lowly, shivering inside Kiba's jacket like a baby kangaroo in its mother's pouch. It was obvious to others, seeing Sasuke's determined eyes, that he was just not going to give up and retreat for the day.

"We don't have time," Sasuke demanded.

"There's no option, Sasuke," Kiba argued to which Sasuke glared, before nodding in dissatisfaction.

The combined team all started heading towards an ice cave on the mountain side near the top which Naruto found, through the blizzard that already started to interfere in their steps.
They were almost there when and air splitting scream was heard from behind.

"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
